About

This site is owned and operated by Small Technology Foundation.

It runs a free and open Small Web application called Catalyst that makes it easy to get your own place on the Small Web that you own and control. No technical knowledge required.

Getting your own place on the Small Web means that you have your own server at a Web Number that runs a Kitten app. (You can also point a domain name to your server but it is not required.)

The default app that Catalyst installs is called Yarn.

Yarn is a peer-to-peer personal social web site.

With your own Yarn server, you can post publicly and have other people follow your ports as well as speak privately with others who have their own Yarn servers.

As mentioned earlier, you are not limited to installing Yarn on your new Small Web server. Using the advanced options during sign-up, you can select from the other applications avialable at this Catalyst server (including Catalyst itself if you want to run your own instance) and you can enter a Git repository URL to install any custom Small Web application you like.
